The Greek mythologist Euhemerus (late fourth century BCE) created a rationalized method of interpretation known as Euhemerism which uses mythological accounts as a reflection of historical events. The same method of interpretation is applied in my work. In place of a historical event a sequence of meteorological events is used be it the shifting of clouds or surface pressures over a specific area. The meteorological information is then reinterpreted and layered upon itself creating imagery that is a reflection of a period of time.
Sequence 22.05.2008.00.00.22.00 depicts the changes in cloud formations and surface pressures over northern Scotland on May 22nd. Meteorological data was recorded in three hour intervals beginning at Midnight and ending at 22:00. The data is arranged and layered to depict both the complexity and simplicity of daily weather conditions. |
